Any good places to live in North west houston? I work within the 610 loop at 290.?
Looking for a good apartment. I am okay to drive 5 miles. More of a family person. How is that area as a whole?

The area of TC Jester & 610 is a quiet area, most people there just work, do there own thing and plenty of shops and restaurants in the area.... don't go to the Tidwell & 290 area, that is a dangerous area for both citizens and police. One police officer was ambushed & killed a few months ago at an apartment complex there. That area is labeled as a high crime area by HPD

I would think so. Puerto Rico is part of the US.

NO. yes puerto rico is part of the USA, but learners permits DO NOT TRANSFER OVER STATE LINES so if you have a california learner's permit, you CANNOT drive anywhere outside of california DMV's are state-run facilities; not federal government it is only good in puerto rico

Anyone know of a great social place to work in Houston, TX?
I'm a 21 yr old insurance rep. Its just me and my boss and this job is driving me crazy. I'm young and want to be in a place where I can move and interact more with people. Plus its a part time gig and need something full time. Does anyone know of a great place thats hiring or do you know of any good hiring agencies??

I'm on the same boat the only difference in that I don't have a job. I recommend applying at Houston website. They have lots of jobs. E-mail me if you need for info. Plus, working with the city will bring lots of benefits.

What are the best companies to work for in Houston, TX?
My family and I relocated to Houston about a year ago for my husband's job. I can not find a job to save my life. I might just be applying for the wrong jobs at the wrong companies. Does anyone know of any places that help edit resumes or recruiting. I have 5 years experience as a purchasing assistant and 5 years as an executive assistant. I do not have a college degree, however, I will in a few months. Thanks

Don't know where you live in the Houston area, but the "Between Jobs Ministry" (BJM) at Northwest Bible Church in Spring can help you write your resume and help refine your job seeking and interviewing skills for free. Don't let the church location fool you. It's not "preachy" at all...very business-oriented. Plus, they have a very large, active live jobs and networking database on their Yahoo Group. You have to pre-register and attend the meetings to get access and approved to the Yahoo Group. Other people attending the meetings also recommend job leads too. People looking for jobs and jobs listed in their Yahoo Group ranges from executive assistants like yourself, to senior executives. I went through it when I lost my job. It's an excellent resource! And it keeps you motivated. They meet each wednesday morning. They have TONS of resources. Even if you live on the other side of town from Spring, it's still worth it! Below is the website link. Does anyone know a shop that can do cheap quality engine work in Houston, Texas.?
When I drive it 40+ miles per hour it makes a humming noise. I cannot put it on the freeway. But it doesn't over heat, but it does not sound like it should. I think it's my engine, but being a poor student I don't have thousands of dollars to give to dealership.

check with the local vo-tech school,,sometimes they allow students to diagnose cars for free,,but remember,,you get what you pay for,,another suggestion is to go to the local bar and look for the guy with grease under his nails and a dirty mechanics uniform on,,,slide in next to him and strike up a conversation with him,,after a few drinks and some light conversation,,ask him what he thinks it might be,,,you might be surprised in that he will be willing to look at it for you for free if you pay for his drink,,,word of advice though,,let him fix it the next day,,

I graduated from A&M and the career center is great. Talk to them and they will help you find firms that hire Aggies in your major. Also talk with the Marketing office in the business school, they will also have some contacts.

Most companies in Houston are not hiring anyone at this time. Slow employment at this time. I have 21 years exp. and can't get a job, except making sandwishes for min. wage. Having a Masters, does not even matter.

typically, no. a 14 year old cant work in texas, let alone houston. if you are looking for something for him/her to do then maybe she can baby sit. other than that i dont know, only jack in the box allows 17 year olds to work, every other place i know one has to be atleast 18. note: if the kid is clever(bright) then enrol them for dual credit classes at a community college, then she/he can work up to 20 hours at the college thats about it. hope this helps
