Does anyone know a shop that can do cheap quality engine work in Houston, Texas.?
When I drive it 40+ miles per hour it makes a humming noise. I cannot put it on the freeway. But it doesn't over heat, but it does not sound like it should. I think it's my engine, but being a poor student I don't have thousands of dollars to give to dealership.

check with the local vo-tech school,,sometimes they allow students to diagnose cars for free,,but remember,,you get what you pay for,,another suggestion is to go to the local bar and look for the guy with grease under his nails and a dirty mechanics uniform on,,,slide in next to him and strike up a conversation with him,,after a few drinks and some light conversation,,ask him what he thinks it might be,,,you might be surprised in that he will be willing to look at it for you for free if you pay for his drink,,,word of advice though,,let him fix it the next day,,

Remember you get what you pay for, The current flat rate per hour is 65.00. Lived in Houston 5 yrs and found only 1 shop i trusted and it was off Hwy. 6 and clay rd

there a good shop on hwy 6 called wilson's import service,he's honest and will work on any brand of car
